Blizzard, etcI have been a big fan of Blizzard and the Warcraft series of games, but lately they have been making some arbitrary and frankly stupid decisions. The Clockwork Robot and Grimtotem Spirit Guide are neat little things that create no game balance issues, but do add to the immersion, essence, and fun of the game. Nerfing them was an arbitrary decision and in no way will benefit the current player-base or entice more players to buy the game. In fact, these actions as of late has made me consider giving EVE another chance. I don't see these sort of news stories in the blogs I read about EVE, and quite frankly since my guild fell apart I don't have any strong social reasons to not start all over. Which brings me to my next biggest problem with WoW. When you find out an old friend you haven't talked to in years has a char on a different server you can pay for a transfer, but if they are on the opposite faction you are Shit Out of Luck. MMO stands for Massively Multiplayer Online, and gimping the social aspect of such a game is not a good idea. Take the time to put in a traitor quest, or include a faction change in the fee for server/account changes. Right now I'm just coasting in the game, playing new characters, and not putting any real effort/thought into what I'm going to do. I have a metric ass-ton of time invested Horde-side, but the only benefit my Alliance characters could get from that is if I payed to transfer servers then abused the neutral auction house to transfer gold. What a waste. I guess I could try trading characters, but since it's against the Terms of Service I risk losing everything and having to literally start from scratch. Whatever I do decide I still have five months prepayed in WoW, and I'll keep playing till the end. Even if it is just aimless leveling.
